The round of the last 16 in the UEFA Champions League in soccer brought no major surprises. All the favorite teams were successfull and advanced to the quarter finals which will be plaid in April. A glance at the teams which are still fighting for the most important cup in the European soccer competition shows that right now the money rules the soccer. All four British teams (Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal), who are all owned by Russian or Saudi-Arabians oil-moguls advanced to the next round. Thanks to their extra money the British Premier League has possibilities the other leagues don't have (but therefore the British national team sucks) and can pay crazy salaries. Who wouldn't like to gain 220.000 £ a week?? So it really looks like money scores goals. But luckily the four British teams have still serious contenders, at first place the FC Barcelona (who had no problems against French team Lyon) and then Germans record-champion Bayern Munich (who humilated Sporting Lissabon with a total of 12:1 goals in both games and is by the way my favorite team). Those two teams are the only ones who have the possibilities to challenge the Big-4 in the quarter-finals, because the two remaining teams, FC Porto and Villareal from Spain can't look up to them. The draw of the quarter-finals will be on this Friday, and hopefully the draw doesn't allow that the British teams can go all together to the semi-finals ... let them play already now against each other, a maximum of two Brits in the round of the last four will be more then enough ... let's don't let rule the money completely over the soccer.
